Job summary

GemPool Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Data Center Technical Operations Engineer to support operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical data center infrastructure in Ireland.

You will manage electrical and mechanical critical infrastructure, lead technicians and vendors, oversee maintenance, and work with UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution, BMS, chillers, and CRAH units while prioritizing safety.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in data centers or critical facilities.
• Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear and power distribution systems.
• Experience managing technicians, contractors, or vendors.
• Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer / Data Center Technical Operations Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee electrical and mechanical critical infrastructure.
• Lead and coordinate technicians, contractors, and vendors.
• Carry out and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Work with critical systems including HV/LV switchgear, UPS systems, generators, power distribution, BMS, chillers, cooling systems and CRAH units.
• Support emergency response and fault-finding activities.
• Assist with projects, capacity planning, commissioning, and facility improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and operational standards.
• Manage assets, reporting, performance metrics, and maintenance activities.

Key Requirements:

• Degree or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in data centers, critical facilities, or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and critical power infrastructure.
• Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear and power distribution systems.
• Previous experience managing technicians, contractors, or vendors.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
