Job summary

AUGHINREE FARM LIMITED is seeking a Dairy Farm Assistant for a full-time, permanent position on a dairy farm. You will assist with day-to-day care and management of the dairy herd, including milking, feeding, calf rearing, and calving support.

A background in dairy farming or livestock is preferred, with strong reliability and physical fitness. We value safe handling of livestock, adherence to hygiene and biosecurity, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a rural setting.

Qualifications

• Experience operating farm machinery is desirable.
• Previous practical dairy farming or livestock experience.
• Good animal husbandry skills and knowledge of milking procedures, livestock welfare, hygiene and biosecurity.

Responsibilities

• Milk cows and operate/clean milking equipment.
• Feed and water livestock; calf rearing and assist during calving.
• Monitor animal health and welfare; maintain farm hygiene and biosecurity.
• Assist with grassland management, fencing and general farm maintenance.
• Operate tractors and farm machinery where trained.

Job Description

Dairy Farm Assistant required for a full-time, permanent position on a dairy farm. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day care and management of the dairy herd. Duties include milking cows, operating and cleaning milking equipment, feeding and watering livestock, calf rearing, assisting during calving, monitoring animal health and welfare, safely moving and handling livestock, maintaining farm hygiene and biosecurity standards, assisting with grassland management, fencing and general farm maintenance, and operating tractors and farm machinery where appropriately trained. Applicants should have previous practical dairy farming or livestock experience, good animal husbandry skills and knowledge of milking procedures, livestock welfare, hygiene and biosecurity. Candidates must be reliable, hardworking, physically fit, able to follow instructions and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Experience operating farm machinery is desirable. An agricultural qualification is advantageous but not essential where relevant practical experience has been obtained.
