Job summary

J Phelan Farm, Harristown, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny is seeking a skilled & experienced Dairy Farm Assistant. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day running of our dairy & beef farm, including milking, calf rearing, feeding, machinery operation, animal care and general farm maintenance.

The position is full-time (39 hours) with weekends and public holidays. Minimum 2 years of practical experience, strong English, farm references and driving licence are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out morning and evening milking.
• Calf rearing including feeding, bedding, dosing and general care.
• Assisting with calving and caring for newborn calves.
• Feeding other livestock.
• Operating agricultural machinery and equipment incl. slurry and fertiliser spreading.
• General farm and yard maintenance.
• Fencing, paddock and general farm maintenance.
• Cleaning and maintaining the milking parlour.
• Monitoring and maintaining high standards of animal health and welfare.
