Job summary

BoyleSports in Portlaoise is seeking a Customer Service Assistant to provide an outstanding customer experience. You will support the Shop Manager in ensuring smooth store operations, welcoming customers, and accurately handling bets and cash transactions with care.

The role covers opening and closing the shop, maintaining presentation standards, and guiding the team. You'll engage with customers to promote products, both in-shop and online, while upholding safety and compliance at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service is preferred.
• Cash handling with accuracy is essential.
• Willingness to work across 7 days.
• Interest or enthusiasm for sport and betting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with day-to-day shop operations.
• Lead shop operations in the absence of managers, including opening and closing the shop.
• Manage and guide the shop team; ensure cash procedures are followed.
• Deliver excellent customer service and respond to customer needs.
• Accept bets and process transactions through multiple channels, including EPOS.
• Introduce customers to in-shop and online betting options.
• Maintain high standards of shop presentation throughout the day.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with the team to promote the BoyleSports brand and offerings.

The day to day of the role will be to assist the Shop Manager and team with the smooth running of the store ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the day whilst accepting and paying out bets and delivering excellent customer service. The role encompasses the duty of opening and closing the business and on occasion you may be required to manage the operations of the shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with the day to day running of the shop.
• Step up and guide shop operations in the absence of the Shop and Assistant Manager including being responsible for:
• Opening and closing the shop
• Managing and guiding the shop team
• Cash management procedures
• You will have the opportunity to manage on occasion which will lead to further development opportunities.
• Ability to combine working in a fast-paced retail environment whilst undertaking training/on the job supports to continuously upskill and progress within the company.
• Responsible for providing an outstanding customer experience for customers through a helpful, friendly and knowledgeable approach.
• Accept bets as per procedure, accurately taking and processing customer bets through multiple channels which include but not limited to betting terminals and in shop transactions through the EPOS System in timely manner.
• To act as a Brand Ambassador including introducing customers to the multi-channel/digital journey.
• Ability to work under pressure and remaining calm whilst constantly looking for ways to improve yourself and the shop.
• Keeping and maintaining shop presentation standards to a high quality throughout your working day.
• Ensure that all procedures (safety, compliance and shop operations) are always followed.
• Passionate about working within a team environment.
• Adhere to Social Responsibility duties.
• To introduce customers to our many in shop and online offerings/products.
