Job summary

KPMG Ireland is recruiting a Senior Cost Manager to lead cost management and quantity surveying across projects in the Mission Critical sector in Cork. You will work with senior Directors to deliver cost proposals and manage client relationships within a hybrid model.

You will oversee a team, mentor junior staff, and drive value, risk, and procurement advice from inception to completion, with a focus on delivering premium services to the construction industry.

Qualifications

• Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management
• Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution
• Understanding a variety of project types/sizes/sectors, within the Mission Critical sector
• Understanding of RIAI and FIDIC standard forms of contract
• Experience of preparing bid submissions
• Prior line‑management experience or mentoring
• Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on procurement, cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation
• Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver cost management and quantity surveying from project inception to completion.
• Collaborate with an Associate or Director to manage several projects (€1m–€50m+).
• Drive performance standards and maintain relationships with clients and the firm.
• Mentor junior staff to deliver Cost Management services efficiently and effectively.

Senior Cost Managers are responsible for promoting and marketing KPMG Construction Advisory and representing KPMG Construction Advisory at a senior level within the industry and within KPMG Construction Advisory and manage the ‘day to day’ operations of their projects with their teams and support from their supervising Director together with other Directors and Senior Practice personnel.

As a Senior Cost Manager working within the wider team, you will lead and deliver in all aspects of cost management and quantity surveying from project inception to completion.

• Collaborate with an Associate or Director to successfully manage and deliver several projects, typically ranging in value from €1m - €50m+.
• Drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process. Maintain and develop good relationships with clients, take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services to the construction industry.
• Be responsible for managing and mentoring junior staff to deliver our Cost Management service efficiently and effectively.

Duties Include:

• Feasibility estimates
• Procurement advice
• Ensuring deliverables are produced to high standards and issued on time
• Cost planning and Cash‑flow forecasting
• Value and risk management
• Post‑contract management
• Supporting and developing team members
• Supports senior staff in ways to make projects more efficient. Seeks ways to improve accuracy and efficiency of tasks.

You will be joining a niche practice area within KPMG, with a team of 50 people and growing – Construction Advisory Services Services Ireland.
