Job summary

A leading specialty insurer is looking for an experienced Underwriter for a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. Underwriter – Specialty Lines (12 Month Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover)

Location: Dublin (hybrid working may be available)

Salary: Up to €80,000, dependent on experience

A leading specialty insurer is seeking an experienced Underwriter to support the placement and oversight of EEA business through its European platform. This maternity cover role offers multi‑line underwriting exposure across a broad specialty portfolio.

Key lines include: Renewable Energy, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, Marine Cargo, and Property & Casualty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and make decisions on referred risks
  • Support placement of EEA business in line with underwriting appetite and regulatory requirements
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with underwriters and brokers
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Contribute to business planning, team objectives, and regulatory reporting
  • Work within established operating models and support junior team members where required
Skills & Experience
  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • Minimum two years’ underwriting experience
  • Experience in one or more specialty lines advantageous
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High level of IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office
