Job Description

Role Overview: We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Loans Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role within our credit union by providing efficient lending services to our valued members. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of loan administration, compliance, and member support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Granting loans to members in strict accordance with legislation, regulations, and our Credit Union's Standard Rules, as well as the guidelines outlined in our Credit Policy and Procedure Notes.
  • Operating within specified limits of responsibility and authority, ensuring responsible lending practices aligned with our Credit Union ethos.
  • Coordinating loan applications beyond your remit to the relevant loans officer for consideration.
  • Managing all aspects of loan administration, including the secure handling of credit agreements and related documentation, and adhering to robust Customer Due Diligence (CDD) procedures.
  • Participating in decision-making regarding members' applications for loan rescheduling.
  • Addressing member inquiries regarding our products and services.
  • Efficiently processing transactions through multiple channels, including telephone, online, and in-person at our branch.
  • Completing various administrative and organizational tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

  • Experience in a frontline role within a credit union or similar financial institution.
  • Desired qualifications include QFA, CU Diploma/Pathways Degree, APA Loans, or an equivalent financial qualification. Candidates actively working towards such qualifications are also welcome to apply.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Member-focused, friendly demeanour with exceptional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work efficiently within deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to adapt to new tasks and projects.
  • Proficiency in IT skills, with prior Progress experience being an advantage.
