Job summary

TD is seeking a TDGF Credit Risk Specialist in Dublin to support the Head of Credit and the CRO in managing wholesale banking credit risk. The role requires strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and the ability to coordinate with senior stakeholders across Europe.

Deep experience in credit risk management, adjudication, governance and reporting will be leveraged to drive process improvements and robust risk governance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, complete, objective assessment of all key credit risks in TDGF.
  • Approve local TDGF credit limits and reviews within authority, following the TD Group process.
  • Verify risk ratings are assigned accurately.
  • Develop knowledge of specific industries and related lending structures.
  • Stay updated on market forces in Europe, North America and globally.
  • Support expansion of 2nd line Credit Risk Management activities in Europe.
  • Assist in specifying entity-specific credit risk limits for TD Securities' European business.
  • Support risk assessment processes and the risk appetite statement for credit risk.
  • Verify that global credit policies and models are appropriate for TDGF and Europe strategy.
  • Act as Credit Risk Committee secretary: organize meetings, agendas, minutes.
  • Update the Committee Mandate to align with governance developments.
  • Coordinate with governance teams on reporting and escalations.
  • Manage stakeholders across local, regional and global teams.
  • Identify improvements to the delivery of the Credit Risk framework in the region.
  • Provide analysis of credit risk reporting to TDGF Senior Management.
  • Review breaches of risk limits and escalate breaches as needed.
  • Monitor European regulatory requirements and support compliance programmes.
  • Assist in regulatory engagement and remediation activities.
  • Provide regulatory knowledge to ensure policies remain compliant.
  • Engage with TD management to deepen counterparty credit risk knowledge including stress testing.
  • Support concentration risk management including country/industry risk and large exposures.
  • Provide oversight of outsourced credit risk activities.
  • Contribute to good conduct and management of Conduct Risk.
  • General support to the TDGF Head of Credit as required.

Job Description

The TDGF Credit Risk Specialist will support the TDGF Head of Credit and the TDGF CRO in the management of TDGF’s Credit Risk. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, strong networking capabilities, and a background and experience in wholesale banking credit risk. The successful candidate will use their experience in general credit management, analysis and/or adjudication to drive process improvements to enhance credit risk governance controls and manage information flow for senior stakeholders in the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a high performer to deepen general credit risk management knowledge across adjudication, governance and reporting, and gain exposure to a wide range of business and risk management functions.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, complete, objective assessment of all key credit risks in TDGF through the identification, understanding and control of these risks
  • Responsible for local approval of TDGF credit limits and reviews (within their authority limit) in addition to the TD Bank Group credit adjudication process, including:
    • Verify that risk ratings are assigned accurately
    • Play a consultative and advisory role by sharing specialised knowledge and providing reasons/logic for own or bank decisions
    • Develop and maintain sound knowledge of specific industries, and of the related appropriate lending structures
    • Keep abreast of market and competitive forces in Europe, North America and internationally
    • Initiate appropriate action on major accounts where the risk to the bank is deteriorating
  • Support the TDGF Head of Credit in the expansion of 2nd line Credit Risk Management activities to support strategic growth and development of TD Securities' European business
  • Assist in the specification of entity-specific credit risk limits for TD Securities' European business
  • Support the risk assessment process and development of the risk appetite statement for credit risk
  • Support the TDGF Head of Credit in verifying that global credit policies, procedures and associated models are appropriate to the operations of TDGF and TD's European strategy
  • Act as the Credit Risk Committee secretariat in supporting the Committee Chair in the effective operation of the Committee to achieve its mandate. This includes the scheduling and coordination of Committee meetings, preparation of agenda and materials and recording of meeting minutes
  • Implement updates to the Committee Mandate to align with risk governance structure developments, as needed
  • Work with Corporate Governance Europe and the TDGF Executive Risk Committee secretariat to support credit risk governance in accordance with policy and relevant Committee mandates, including required credit risk reporting and escalations
  • Stakeholder management across several local, regional and global teams, including but not limited to TDBG Risk Management, Credit Risk Policy and 1st and 2nd line Credit teams within TDGF and TDBG
  • Assess and identify areas for improvement of the delivery of the Credit Risk management framework in the region
  • Contribute to the timeliness and accuracy of local credit risk reporting of credit exposures and credit risk management activities, providing ad-hoc bespoke reporting on specific sectors or portfolios when appropriate
  • Provide analysis and interpretation of credit risk reporting and outputs for submission to TDGF Senior Management and Committees, identifying opportunities for enhancements and automation where possible
  • Review breaches of credit risk limits, ensuring any limit exceptions are escalated and actioned appropriately
  • Monitor European regulatory requirements with regard to credit risk and assist in the development and implementation of regulatory change for TDGF, including participation in enterprise-wide regulatory compliance programmes
  • Support the TDGF Head of Credit and CRO in regulatory engagement, queries and remediation activities
  • Provide specialised knowledge on European regulatory requirements with regard to credit risk and related activities, ensuring applicable policies and procedures remain compliant at all times
  • Engage with TDBG management teams and forums to develop and maintain sound knowledge of counterparty credit risk management including stress testing, margin period of risk and wrong way risk, providing specialist knowledge with regard to the impact on TDGF, or European regulatory considerations where appropriate
  • Support the TDGF Head of Credit in the management of concentration risk in TDGF including country risk, industry risk, and counterparty group exposure in the portfolios in accordance with policy, with particular regard to local legal entity capital management and related reporting considerations such as Connected Clients and Large Exposure management
  • Provide oversight, monitoring, control and challenge of outsourced credit risk activities
  • Responsible for good conduct and for contributing to the identification and management of Conduct Risk within the Risk Management function
  • General TDGF Head of Credit support, as required
