Job summary

Securitas Ireland is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to help protect people, property and peace of mind. You’ll maintain a visible presence, monitor access, respond swiftly to incidents, and support colleagues during emergencies.

The role is fully flexible across Monday to Sunday with a minimum 36 hours per week. Compensation is €17.02 per hour plus €20 night allowance and Sunday premium, plus career development and benefits from a leading security provider.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
  • Expertise in emergency response, crisis management, or security operations desirable.
  • Physically fit; ability to stand, walk, and respond swiftly to emergencies; CPR/First Aid certification may be required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies; take decisive action to contain risks.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems; investigate suspicious activity or unauthorised access.
  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter crime and ensure security of access points.
  • Control access to restricted areas; verify credentials and issue temporary badges as needed.
  • Document incidents and actions in detailed reports to aid investigations and risk assessment.
  • Coordinate with security teams, emergency responders, and stakeholders for coordinated responses.

Job Description

As a Security Officer, you will be critical in ensuring the safety and security of theorganisation's premises, assets, and personnel.

Your primary responsibility will be to respond swiftlyand effectively to any security incidents or emergencies that may arise, including but not limited tobreaches, alarms, disturbances, and medical emergencies.

You will be tasked with maintaining avigilant presence, monitoring surveillance systems, and promptly intervening to mitigate risks and resolve situations as they occur.

Responsibilities:

  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies,including but not limited to breaches, disturbances, medical situations, and fire alarms. Takedecisive action to contain and resolve the problem while minimising risk to personnel and property.
  • Surveillance Monitoring: Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to detect and assesspotential security threats or breaches. Maintain constant vigilance and promptly investigate anysuspicious activity or unauthorised access.
  • Patrol and Inspection: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter criminal activity, enforcesecurity policies, and ensure the integrity of physical barriers and access points. Perform thoroughinspections to identify vulnerabilities and address potential security risks.
  • Access Control: Control access to restricted areas, ensuring that only authorised individuals arepermitted entry. Verify identification credentials, issue access badges to new starters andtemporary badges for existing employees, verify approvals, issue keys upon request, and enforceany other access protocols in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reporting: Document all security incidents, observations, and actions in detailed and accurate reports. Provide timely and comprehensive written accounts to aid in investigations, complianceefforts, and risk assessment,
  • Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with other security personnel, law enforcement agencies,emergency responders, and relevant stakeholders to address safety & security concerns, shareinformation, and implement coordinated responses to incidents
  • Training and Education: Stay informed about security best practices, emerging threats, and
  • relevant regulations. Participate in training programs to enhance your knowledge and skills insecurity procedures, crisis management, and emergency response techniques.
  • Parking management: Ensure compliance by overseeing all parking activities, issuing andchecking parking permits, managing visitor parking, and guiding and instructing vendors to facilitatesmooth traffic flow.
  • Admin tasks: Monitor security email box & respond to queries, manage lost property includingsafe storage and log keeping, provide occasional security support during company events, andprovide escort upon request.
  • Other: Conduct thorough screening of incoming mail and packages using X-ray machines andother specialized equipment to ensure safety and security within the organization.
  • Your site Security Supervisor or equivalent may assign you additional tasks to ensure the smoothoperation and security of the facility, which you will be expected to support with.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Expertise in emergency response, crisis management, or security operations is highly desirable.
  • Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and able to perform the essential duties of the job,including standing, walking, and responding swiftly to emergencies. CPR and first aid certificationmay be required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential foreffectively interacting with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public. The ability to remain calm andarticulate during stressful situations is crucial.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly and analytically are
  • necessary to assess security threats, make sound judgments, and implement effective responsestrategies.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimalsupervision. Willingness to support colleagues and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic securityenvironment.
  • Integrity: Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and a commitment to upholding ethical standards in
  • all aspects of security operations. Must adhere to confidentiality requirements and maintain the trustand confidence of stakeholders.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education or training insecurity or a related field is beneficial—English Language to B2 skill level.
  • Computer level: Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook and Word) – Minimum Basiccompetency as detailed in the table below. Security Systems, CCTV and Access Control – 6 monthsplus experience
  • Certifications: Depending on the specific job requirements and jurisdictional regulations,certifications in security, including PSA Licence Grade 02C Security Guard Static, First AidResponder, Fire Awareness, and any relevant law enforcement training, would be advantageous
  • Working Conditions: The position may require rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, andholidays. Depending on the organisation's needs, Security Officers may be stationed indoors oroutdoors in various weather conditions.
