Job summary

Insight Global are seeking a Controls Engineer to join a leading global hyperscale data centre organisation on a long-term contract.

This role is fully remote within Belgium or London, or up to 3 days per week onsite in Dublin, with travel across European data centre locations. You will adapt centralised design templates for deployment across multiple European regions, focusing on HVAC controls and ensuring solutions meet country-specific regulations and operational requirements.

Qualifications

Job description

Insight Global are seeking a Controls Engineer to join a leading global hyperscale data centre organisation on a long-term contract basis.

This position requires fully remote within Belgium or London, or up to 3 days per week onsite(in Dublin) /travelling across European data centre locations, for a rolling contract opportunity. Travel is typically focused across European sites and offers flexibility around scheduling, with the maximum expected onsite/travel requirement being three days per week.

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for taking centralised data centre design templates and adapting them for deployment across multiple European regions. This role will focus heavily on HVAC control systems and wider controls environments, ensuring solutions are localised to meet country-specific regulations, standards, and operational requirements. You will support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from design and construction through to operational handover, working closely with internal teams to ensure successful implementation across multiple live data centre projects.

Must-Have Requirements Include:

• Experience working across both design/consultancy environments and hands-on field engineering roles
• Strong knowledge of HVAC control systems within critical environments
• Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), PLCs and SCADA systems
• Knowledge of European data centre standards, regulations, and control system directives
• Experience adapting standardised engineering designs for regional or country-specific requirements
• Experience supporting projects through construction, commissioning, and implementation phases
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple concurrent projects
• Willingness and ability to travel across European locations when required
• Understanding of how control systems support:
• Cooling and environmental management
• Power continuity and resilience
• Real-time monitoring
• Automated operational response and fault management

• Exposure to independent certification, compliance, or regulatory environments
• Ability to independently conduct site assessments and technical reviews
• Background combining engineering consultancy experience with hands-on project delivery
