Working Hours: Flexible – Monday to Sunday, morning, afternoon, and evening sessions available
Start Date: As soon as possible
Remuneration: Competitive hourly/sessional rate

Role Overview

Spectrum Health is seeking an experienced and adaptable Contractor GP / Locum Doctor to join our growing panel of healthcare professionals. This flexible role requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per month and involves providing high-quality medical care across a variety of settings, including nursing homes, GP surgeries, community clinics, remote, in clinic and on the road out of hours medical service and remote telehealth platforms.

This position is ideal for an independent Doctor who values autonomy, clinical variety, and the ability to support patients in both face-to-face and virtual environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general medical services to our out-of-hours clients, both on the road and via remote consultations.
  • Availability Monday to Sunday, including evening and night on-call duties on the road.
  • Deliver general medical services within nursing home settings
  • Provide locum cover in GP practices and community-based clinics
  • Conduct remote consultations and teleclinic appointments using digital health platforms
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes and documentation
  • Collaborate with nursing and allied health professionals across multiple care environments
  • Ensure safe, evidence-based care in accordance with Spectrum Health protocols and national guidelines
Essential Requirements
  • Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
  • Professional medical indemnity insurance
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in general practice or community healthcare
  • Proficiency in digital health systems and remote consultation delivery
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and patient-focused with a flexible approach to work
  • Available to work out of hours and weekends
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in Doctor out of hours, nursing home medicine, community care, or telehealth services
  • Knowledge of Irish primary care systems and HSE/HIQA standards
  • Access to own transport for community visits
