Job summary

Evolve Ireland is seeking a Contract Psychiatrist to provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management for children, young people and adults with ADHD and related neurodevelopmental conditions, on a part-time basis.

You will work across Blanchardstown, Dublin and Gorey, Wexford within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to treatment planning, safeguarding, and risk management in a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

• MD/MBBS/MB BCh BAO or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council is required.
• Specialist Registration in Psychiatry with the Irish Medical Council Specialist Division.
• Specialist Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry.
• Additional postgraduate training in ADHD/Autism/Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry or Leadership and Management is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and ongoing clinical management for children, adolescents and adults referred for ADHD and related neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support diagnostic decision-making and treatment planning.
• Prescribe and monitor ADHD medications in line with Irish legislation and best-practice guidelines.
• Develop personalised treatment plans, provide psychoeducation, and support shared-care arrangements with GPs.
• Conduct risk and safeguarding assessments; escalate concerns and implement safety plans where required.
• Participate in safeguarding reviews and multidisciplinary safeguarding discussions.
• Maintain high standards of clinical governance, documentation, prescribing and quality assurance.
• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement.

Education

MB BCh BAO / MBBS / MD or equivalent

Irish Medical Council registered

Specialist Registration in Psychiatry (Irish Medical Council)

Specialist Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry

Postgraduate training in ADHD/Autism/Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry or Leadership (desirable)

Contract Psychiatrist for Children, Young People and Adults role

Part-time position

About the role:

• Shift and Schedule: 1 – 2 days per week
• Location: Blanchardstown, County Dublin and Gorey, County Wexford locations

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Contract Psychiatrist to join our passionate and supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people and adults.

Our service specialises in high-quality, evidence-based assessments for autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, communication and coordination difficulties under the Assessment of Need pathway, alongside private work.

As a Psychiatrist will be responsible for:

• Providing specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and ongoing clinical management for children, adolescents, and adults referred for ADHD assessment and management, and related neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support diagnostic decision-making and treatment planning.

Qualifications & Training

• Primary Medical Degree (MB BCh BAO, MBBS, MD, or equivalent recognised qualification).
• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Specialist Registration in Psychiatry with the Irish Medical Council Specialist Division.
• Specialist Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, or General Adult Psychiatry
• Additional postgraduate training in ADHD, Autism, Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry, Behavioural Paediatrics, Psychological Therapies, or Leadership and Management would be desirable
  Required Experience
• Experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating ADHD across the lifespan.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary diagnostic teams.
• Experience assessing psychiatric comorbidities and conducting risk/safeguarding assessments in children, adolescents and adults
• In-depth knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria (or equivalent) for autism, ADHD, and intellectual disability.
• Experience contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
