A healthcare recruitment agency invites applications for the role of Consultant Neurologist in Ireland. This position offers the chance to join a patient-centered neurology service within a dynamic hospital environment. Responsibilities include providing acute services, engaging in quality improvement, and teaching junior staff.
We are inviting applications for the position of Consultant Neurologist. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive, patient‑centred neurology service within a dynamic acute hospital and wider hospital group.
Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with the full spectrum of neurological conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Deliver acute neurology services including rapid access / TIA clinics, stroke support, and emergency consultations.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and care‑pathway development.
Contribute to the organisation and delivery of outpatient neurology clinics, neurophysiology services (if applicable), and liaison with primary/community care.
Provide on‑call consultant neurology services as part of the agreed rota.
Lead and support quality‑improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and service efficiency.
Engage in teaching, training, and supervision of NCHDs, medical students, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Participate in audit, clinical governance, and service development in line with HSE and hospital policies.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and confidentiality.
Registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council register in Neurology.
Completed specialist training (or within six months of completion at time of interview).
Demonstrated clinical expertise in the assessment and management of neurological disorders.
Strong commitment to multidisciplinary, patient‑centred care.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Sub‑specialty expertise (e.g., epilepsy, MS, movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, stroke, headache).
Experience in neurophysiology (EMG/NCS/EEG), where relevant.
Involvement in research, audit, quality‑improvement projects, or service innovation.
Teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
