The project involves heavy civils, deep excavations, temporary works in the form of sheet piling/ cofferdam/dewatering and pipework installation. It includes the construction of large insitu concrete water tanks and the building enclsoyre is a steel frame with blockwork and cladding.The role involves leading the construction team and subcontractors on site and will have the responsibility to put H&S of site personnel at the top of the agenda.The role will interact with the following departments: Veolia Design and Project Management Teams, Client, Operations on site, Contractors and sub-contractors.Within a supportive, friendly and challenging environment, you will get to work on exciting projects, whilst learning from a diverse team of talented people and leading experts.What’s more, you’ll be provided with the freedom to push boundaries and constantly learn and develop your skill-set. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects across a wide range of sectors, including industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare and municipal.This is a site based position dependent on the successful applicant, but the incumbent may be required to travel to other Veolia sites, plants and offices throughout Ireland.Day to Day RoleManage, operate and run all site activities on behalf of Veolia.Develop and maintain H&S file on siteWork closely with the Project Manager to plan the project effectively ensuring project requirements, specifications, design drawings and Health & Safety proposals are agreed upon and a programme is in placePromote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental ManagementDay-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site team and the work of any subcontractors in accordance with Veolia Minimum Requirement (VMR) toolkit standardIdentify, prevent and report unsafe behaviour, defects and events on site (i.e. accidents, incidents and close calls) updating AVA as required in accordance with Veolia Minimum Requirement (VMR).A proactive approach to resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise and associated reporting to the Project ManagerAssist with project handover and ensuring defect/ snag-free completionCarry out regular H&S audits and toolbox talksManage all site-based operatives, overseeing all aspects of their work including carrying out safety inductions, tool box talks, controlling the quality of work, ensuring method statement and order fulfilment, cleanliness and tidiness, the use of plant and tools, the reduction of waste and use of PPEReviewing of RAMS, Lift Plans etc. from subcontractors to ensure a safe working method for all activities on site.Reviewing performance against targets and identifying and managing potential risks and opportunitiesIssuing of permits and Safe Plans of Action (SPA’s) as requiredChair daily co-ordination/whiteboard meetingsChair weekly internal progress review meetingsLiaison with Project Team, Veolia Risk & Assurance department, Equipment Suppliers, Contractors and Client as requiredManagement of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Automation subcontractorsPreparation of weekly and monthly progress reports on-site activitiesAttendance at weekly and monthly client progress meetingsProgramming and scheduling of all work on site.Ensure compliance with project programme for timely completion of the worksMaintain commercial awareness and play a leading role in resolving disputes & claims.Overall responsibility for the monitoring of material conformance and workmanship quality against the ITP and the Project Quality Plan.Ensure ongoing compliance with the following during the construction phase:Environmental Plan / Waste Management Plan / Construction H&S Plan / Emergency Plan /Project ScheduleQualifications and ExperienceCivil or Trade background showing progression to management level10 years’ experience working in roles on multi-discipline site-based projects preferably water or Waste WaterUp to 10 years’ site management experience in water/wastewater industryPrevious experience in Civil construction of Water Treatment plants will be an advantageFull clean driving licenceExcellent oral and written reporting skillsGood communication skills requiredComputer literacy in Google Sheets, Docs & email will be an advantagePreferably to have IOSH SHE for Construction Site Managers or similarPlease note:If you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non-EU/EEA national , you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.Information on legislation and guides to the procedures in relation to obtaining greencard permits ,work permits, spousal/dependant permits is available on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.
