Job summary

Company Details Confidential is recruiting a Diesel Plant Fitter / Construction Plant Mechanic to cover Dublin and Donegal, with field and workshop work.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a 45-hour week and a salary of €48,000-€60,000 per annum (DOE). You will service, diagnose, and repair heavy plant machinery and mentor apprentices.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant trade qualification, a full clean driving licence, and possess strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification such as Plant Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Plant Mechanic, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in plant, HGV, construction equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, diagnostics and fault finding, and mechanical repair.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections on heavy plant and construction machinery.
• Diagnose faults across diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.
• Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, pumps, and hydraulic equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns and undertake field-service repairs at customer sites.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and job sheets.
• Prepare machinery for hire, deployment, or operational use.
• Work effectively in both workshop and field environments.
• Ensure all work complies with Irish health and safety regulations and industry standards.
• Support and mentor junior fitters and apprentices when required.
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach during site visits.

Requirements

Relevant trade qualification such as Plant Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Plant Mechanic, or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years' experience within a plant, HGV, construction equipment, or heavy machinery environment.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience working on construction, quarry, or earthmoving equipment.

Welding and fabrication experience.

Familiarity with diagnostic software and telematics systems.

Previous experience in a field service environment.
