The Health, Safety, Quality, Environment & Sustainability Director (HSQE&S) is a senior leadership role with strategic and operational responsibility for embedding best-in-class HSQE and sustainability practices across Glanua’s operations in Ireland and the UK. Reporting to the Executive Team, the role provides expert leadership, governance, and assurance that Glanua operates safely, responsibly, and sustainably, while meeting all regulatory, contractual, and ethical obligations. The HSQE & Sustainability Director will drive a proactive culture of continuous improvement, risk management, and environmental stewardship, ensuring HSQE and sustainability are integral to business strategy, project delivery, and decision‑making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Governance
Develop, own, and deliver Glanua’s HSQE and Sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, growth plans, and client expectations. Embed HSQE and sustainability considerations into business planning, investment decisions, and operational execution. Act as the principal HSQE & Sustainability advisor to the Board and Executive Team, providing clear insight on risks, performance, and improvement opportunities. Champion a strong safety, quality, and sustainability culture across all levels of the organisation. Provide strategic oversight of occupational health and safety management systems, policies, procedures, and standards to achieve a zero‑harm culture. Ensure full compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and client requirements across Ireland and the UK. Lead and oversee the investigation of significant incidents, near misses, and high‑potential events, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions. Promote behavioural safety, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
Quality Management
Establish, implement, and continuously improve robust Quality Management Systems in line with ISO 9001 or equivalent standards. Ensure consistent application of quality processes across projects, functions, and supply‑chain partners. Monitor performance, conduct management reviews, and drive corrective actions to enhance delivery excellence and customer satisfaction.
Environmental Management
Lead the development and implementation of environmental management systems and compliance frameworks aligned with ISO 14001. Ensure adherence to all environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements. Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks associated with construction, operations, and supply‑chain activities. Promote best practice in environmental protection, biodiversity, pollution prevention, and resource efficiency.
