Job summary

Nazareth House Sligo is a long-established residential care home in Sligo town, seeking a compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team. You will help enhance daily life for residents through individualized holistic care and teamwork with healthcare professionals.

The role offers 39 hours per week at €16.12 per hour, with benefits including parking and staff schemes. You will work under the Director of Nursing in a supportive, multicultural environment.

Qualifications

• FETAC Level 5 or equivalent training.
• Experience caring for the elderly in residential settings preferred.
• Adopt a person-centered approach to care planning.
• Demonstrate teamwork and ongoing professional development.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Genuine interest in caring for older people.
• Positive attitude and flexibility to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality care to each resident.
• Assist residents with intimate and personal care.
• Assist residents with eating and drinking as appropriate.
• Promote and encourage a normal nutritional diet.
• Assist residents with mobilizing.
• Assist with diversional therapy and activities.
• Support nursing staff and care of residents, including end-of-life care.
• Be familiar with infection control policies.
• Report changes in residents’ condition to senior nurse.
• Ensure residents’ sleep patterns are not disrupted at night.
• Document required records as part of duty.
