Job summary

Highfield Healthcare in Dublin is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join Hampstead Clinic and Highfield Hospitals, working within a multidisciplinary Mental Health team. The role involves assessment, formulation and interventions, CBT, supportive psychotherapy, and group therapy across inpatient and day hospital settings.

Working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with a permanent, full-time contract. Eligibility requires a PSI-accredited postgraduate qualification in Clinical or Counselling

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology accredited by PSI.
• High standard of suitability for the discharge of clinical duties.
• Qualifications from outside Ireland must be validated by the Department of Health in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Consultation to psychiatric and medical providers about modalities of psychological treatment on a case-by-case basis.
• Provision of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
• Communication of psychological concepts and findings to patient and families.
• Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) delivery.
• Supportive psychotherapy and group therapy within area of expertise.
• Facilitate one outpatient service half day per week.
• Maintain patient and resident records in line with policies and data protection.

Clinical Psychologist - Basic Grade

The Clinical Psychologist’s primary scope of responsibility will be to Highfield Hospitals and Hampstead Clinic services, as part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, which works across Mental Health services within Highfield Healthcare in Dublin 9 and Lucan.

The role of the Clinical Psychologist is indispensable to the effective treatment of all patients and residents admitted to Hampstead Clinic's Acute Adult Inpatient Service, as well as those attending our 3 Day hospitals located in Dublin 9 and Lucan.

The post holder reports to the Principal Clinical Psychologist on operational matters and in respect of clinical governance arrangements within the organisation. Clinical supervision will also be provided by the Senior Clinical Psychologists.

Working Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Principal Duties

• Consultation to psychiatric and medical providers about modalities of psychological treatment on a case-by-case basis. This would include, among other modalities:
• Provision of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention
• Communication of psychological concepts and findings to patient and families
• Cognitive behavioural therapy
• Supportive psychotherapy
• Special techniques of group therapy within the psychologist’s area of expertise
• Facilitate one outpatient service half day per week
• Keep up to date with mandatory training and professional development requirement
• Adhere to relevant Health & Safety policies, procedures and related regulatory requirements.
• Maintain appropriate patient and residents’ records in accordance with Highfield Healthcare’s requirements, Mental Health Commission and Data Protection Acts.

Eligibility Criteria - Qualifications and/ or experience

Candidates must possess a Postgraduate qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology accredited by Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. Any qualifications obtained from outside Ireland, will need to be validated, or in the process of being validated, by the Department of Health in Ireland.
