Based in Mercy Injury Unit – Gurranabraher, Cork

Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours.

Overview

Mercy Injury Unit Centre sees up to 19,000 patients per year. Based on National figures, it is one of the most successful units of its kind in the country. In the past 10 years the unit has built a reputation for both excellent and efficiently delivered healthcare. The unit is made up of Medical, Nursing Staff, Health and Social Care Professionals, Healthcare attendants, Clerical and Support staff.

Mercy University Hospital (MUH) are looking to recruit a dynamic CNM2 to be responsible for the operational management and coordination of services. Modelling quality care and practice while supporting the development of new systems and processes in care.

The CNM2 Mercy Injury Unit
  • Will demonstrate substantial theoretical knowledge, effective leadership skills and be responsible for the clinical and learning environment of the unit.
  • Professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing or designated office.
  • Will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Manager III Emergency Department (ED) Services.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the triaging, assessing, planning and delivery of care within the department.
  • Develop good relations and liaise with members of multidisciplinary teams as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and work with the multi-disciplinary team to improve processes/practices.
  • Participate in relevant committees to represent the nursing department as part of developing effective interdisciplinary relationships and ensuring nursing contribution to strategic developments in the hospital.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 recent years must be in the related area.
  • H.Dip Emergency Nursing (desirable) or willing to undertake same.
  • Recent acute experience required.
  • Provide evidence of clinical and professional managerial ability, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Provide evidence of ongoing professional development.
