Murphy Geospatial – A Woolpert Company in Ireland is hiring a Civil Structural Engineer to join the Structural Inspection Department. The role targets newly qualified or experienced engineers, reporting to the department manager and based in Ireland, with mentorship from a Chartered Engineer to eventually lead inspections and projects.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of inspection methods, including waterway surveys, ROVs, rope access, and NDT, while supporting the programme management

Qualifications

• Hold a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with hands-on field inspection exposure.
• Knowledge of bridge types and loadings principles.
• Ability to perform detailed field and office inspection work.
• Full clean driving licence and right to work in Ireland.

• Perform bridge/structural inspections using various technologies and access methods.
• Assist Project Manager in coordinating inspection programmes and subcontractors.
• Undertake waterways inspections and surveys using boats and equipment.
• Opportunity for rope access bridge inspection (abseiling).
• Perform underwater inspections using Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV).
• Utilise Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and equipment.
• Handle, process and interpret geospatial/inspection data.

Position Overview

Due to continued business growth, we are currently recruiting a Civil Structural Engineer to join our Structural Inspection Department. This is a unique opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to work within the expeditious Geospatial industry. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Structural Inspection Department manager and will be based in Ireland.

You will be mentored by a Chartered Engineer with over 20 years of experience in bridge and structure inspection/evaluation and our Operations Manager who is experienced in all the inspection methods and equipment that we provide. The right candidate will aspire to be a Chartered Engineer to lead structural inspections and assessments as well as manage projects.

What You Will Do

• Performing bridge/structural inspections using a variety of technologies and access methods.

What You Will Bring

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering - BSc in Civil/Structural Engineering or 3+ years equivalent experience
• Fundamental knowledge of the principles and practices of bridge types and loadings.
• Ability to perform detailed field and office inspection work.
• Good writing skills and proficiency in the English language.
• The right to work in Ireland.
• Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients.
• Possess a full clean driving license.
