Senior Civil Quantity Surveyor - Wicklow

Salary: €70,000 - €90,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm
Location: Wicklow (with occasional site travel required)

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Civil Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Wicklow. This is a key senior role within the commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of civil and infrastructure projects across the region.

The Role

As Senior Civil QS, you will be responsible for managing all commercial and cost-control aspects of multiple projects, ensuring profitability, compliance, and accurate reporting. You will work closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Managers, and site teams to oversee procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts.

This position requires strong commercial acumen, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to travel to project sites when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial performance of civil engineering projects
  • Prepare valuations, cost reports, and monthly financial updates
  • Handle tendering, procurement, and subcontractor management
  • Assess and prepare variations, claims, and change orders
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain strong supplier/subcontractor relationships
  • Conduct cost analysis and risk assessments
  • Work closely with onsite teams to ensure cost efficiency and compliance
  • Support preparation of budgets, BOQs, and project forecasts
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure commercial governance
  • Travel to project sites occasionally as required
Requirements
  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor (Civil Engineering or related discipline)
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience as a QS within the civil engineering or utilities sector
  • Strong understanding of civil works such as groundworks, roads, utilities, drainage, concrete structures, etc.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
  • Strong IT and reporting skills (Excel, cost management systems, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Full, clean driving licence
