Job summary

A community organization in South Dublin is seeking a Childcare Assistant to support teachers and supervise children. The candidate will maintain a safe environment and help with meals and activities. Eligibility for Child Education Scheme and completion of QQI accredited training is required. Job description
Childcare Assistant - The Little Childrens Centre

Eligibility to participate in the Child Education Scheme (CE) is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for one year or more, or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

To register your interest you can contact an Employment Personal Advisor (EPA) in your local Intreo Centre.

Applicants must supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Duties
  • Provide support for the childcare teacher.
  • Monitor and supervise children continuously.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and positive environment.
  • Build relationships with children, parents, and guardians.
  • Alert the teacher to emergencies.
  • Help serve meals and snacks.
  • Greet parents and address children by name.
  • Follow procedures for preparing bottles and changing diapers.
  • Assist with sand, water, or playground activities.
  • Help place children to sleep when required.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned.

Note: This role is only available to candidates who will undertake QQI accredited training in Childcare.
