Job summary

A local sports club in Skerries is seeking a Caretaker/Groundsperson to assist in maintaining the natural environment around the Community Centre. This role offers a developmental opportunity with no prior experience necessary, as accredited training will be provided. Candidates will be responsible for maintaining gardens, ensuring safety of community spaces, and operating on-site equipment.

Job Overview

Skerries Rugby Club are searching for a Caretaker/Groundsperson to assist in the installation and maintenance of the natural environment around the Community Centre. This is a developmental opportunity and no experience is necessary. Accredited training will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining gardens, lawns and sporting venues
  • Caring for and cultivating foliage – planting, fertilising, weeding, watering, trimming and pruning
  • Soil conditioning and applying pesticides
  • Ensuring pathways, stairs, indoor seating and other structures are safe
  • Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing and tying down unsecured items
  • Operating and maintaining on-site equipment
  • Inspecting all community spaces daily to identify problems with litter
  • Responding to requests from property managers and maintenance services as needed
  • Ensuring the parking lot and sidewalks are free from litter and debris
  • Maintaining sprinkler system and trash receptacles on the premises
