Job summary

A national non-profit organisation is seeking a part-time Care Worker in Enniscorthy to provide person-centred care for individuals with dementia. The ideal candidate will have communication and interpersonal skills, along with experience in health or social care. Qualifications

Care Worker – Enniscorthy

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) is a national non‑profit organisation that provides dementia‑specific services and supports across Ireland. ASI is currently recruiting for a Day Care Worker at The Lodge, Castle Gardens Retirement Village, Drumgold, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford (Y21 EW2A). This is a permanent contract working 7 hours per week.

Job Title: Care Worker
Job Location: Enniscorthy
Reports to: Nurse Manager

Purpose of the role: To provide person‑centred care to people with dementia, addressing their needs and enhancing their quality of life.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Build trusting relationships with clients and their carers so they feel secure and welcome.
  • Assist the centre manager in assessing and updating care plans for each client.
  • Carry out care plan activities.
  • Provide personal care if needed, including help with meals, toileting, bathing, etc.
  • Ensure that observations are reported in a timely manner.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients.
  • Identify and develop activities to enhance the quality of care delivered.
  • Promote teamwork by assisting and supporting other staff in their duties in the centre.
  • Adhere to service provision, health and safety policies and procedures set out by the Society.
  • Assist in the maintenance of records and in promoting a positive and safe environment for both client and staff.
  • Avail of training opportunities identified by the centre manager.
  • Partake in staff meetings/team briefings and one‑to‑one meetings with the centre manager to contribute to ongoing development.
  • Ensure facilities are kept clean and in good condition and that resources are used correctly.
  • Respond to additional responsibilities with a flexible approach; the job description will be amended if new duties become regular.
Job Holder Entry Requirements
  • Education: Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience: In health, social or disability care.
  • Desirable qualifications: FETAC Level 5, manual handling, confidence in using IT/email.

Salary: Commensurate with the care sector; dependent on relevant experience.
