Job summary

Horizons - Cope Foundation in Cork Communities is recruiting Care Assistants for the West Cork Area to support people with intellectual disability and autism to flourish in their communities.

Roles are in Bandon, Macroom, Clonakilty and Skibbereen, with 78-hour fortnight shifts. Salary follows the 13-point Care Assistant scale and incremental credit is available for prior public service experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare/Intellectual Disability (all 8 modules completed).
• Knowledge of current legislation (ADMA, UNCRPD).
• Excellent teamwork, initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm.
• Fluency in verbal and written English is essential.
• Experience in report writing and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Support people with intellectual disability to live a life of their choosing.
• Work across Horizons residential services and community settings as part of a team.
• Maintain person-centred support, with flexible day/night shifts.
• Engage with circles of support and local communities to progress opportunities.
