Purpose:


As a Social Care Worker & Care Assistant in a Residential setting, you will play a key role in supporting individuals to live fulfilling, self-directed lives. You will provide high-quality, person-centred support, promoting independence, dignity, choice and community inclusion, while working as part of a professional and supportive team.

Linked to HSE Consolidated Pay Scale:



  • 90% of Social Care Worker (with Qualification)(February 2026) Annual Salary Range: €36,772.00 - €51,486.00 (based on 39 hours per week)

  • Care Assistant (I.D Agencies)(February 2026) Annual Salary Range: €34,536.00 - €47,954.00 (based on 39 hours per week)

Opportunities available for full time and part time position's working on a shift basis, including evening, overnight (sleepover/waking nights) and weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key worker, supporting the development, implementation and review of individual support plans.

  • Promote independence, life skills and informed decision-making, respecting each person’s rights and choices.

  • Support individuals with daily living, personal development and social opportunities.

  • Support individuals to engage in community life, encouraging participation, new experiences, and positive risk-taking.

  • Communicate effectively with individuals, adapting your approach to meet their communication needs.

  • Maintain a high standard of professional practice, working within your scope and seeking guidance when required.

  • Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all individuals in line with HIQA standards and organisational policies.

  • Support individuals with their health and wellbeing needs, including the safe administration and management of medication in line with organisational policies.

  • Support individuals with financial management and personal responsibilities in a safe and appropriate manner.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, respect and accountability, responding appropriately to any concerns.


Qualifications:


Applicable to the role of Social Care Worker:



  • CORU registration as a Social Care Worker (essential).

  • QQI Level 7/8 in Social Care or a related discipline (or equivalent leading to CORU registration).


Applicable to the role of Care Assistant:



  • QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare (or working towards completion)


Experience:



  • Experience in the field of intellectual disabilities or autism is desirable.

  • Experience working in residential services is an advantage.

  • Experience delivering positive behaviour support and low arousal approaches.


Knowledge & Skills:



  • Awareness of key worker role and philosophy of supporting people with intellectual disabilities.

  • Knowledge of Health Act 2007, HIQA, National Standards and other regulatory requirements.

  • Strong understanding of person-centred and human rights based approaches.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to use initiative, problem-solve, and work independently.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

  • Good organisational and IT skills.


Additional Requirements:



  • Full, clean Irish driving license.
