Responsibilities

  • Purpose of the Post: The role of the Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist (TVN) was first established in 2002 to provide a resource for hospital staff in relation to pressure area care and wound management.
  • Background to the Post: The role of the TVN is to deliver specialist individual nursing expertise, education and a management consultation service to patients, their relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team in all areas of the specialty with a special focus on pressure area care within the hospital.
  • This role involves working closely with and reporting to the Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Nurse Practitioner Tissue Viability (cANP/ANP TV). The post holder will also act as a resource in tissue viability to medical personnel working in community settings e.g. health centres, nursing homes.
  • The post holder will be expected to contribute top nurse led quality initiative such as "Pressure Ulcer to Zero" which meets national, regional, and local standards within the specialty.
