Job summary

STERIS in Galway operates a Calibration Engineering role within the validation team at the Galway laboratory, delivering testing and technical services to medical device and pharma clients.

The position requires high technical aptitude, project management skills and the ability to work within a regulated environment, reporting to the Validation Supervisor. Strong English, Excel proficiency and technical writing are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3rd level relevant science or engineering degree.
• Calibration experience: minimum 3 years.
• Working in a regulated environment: minimum 5 years.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Technical writing experience.
• Knowledge of measurement uncertainty evaluation and application.
• 6 Sigma and Minitab experience an advantage.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain calibration related operating procedures, instructions and forms where required inline with applicable standards and regulations
• Perform regular calibrations of measuring and test equipment
• Reviewing and approving calibration certificates
• Ensure calibrations are completed as per calibration schedule and implement forward planning to avoid conflict with laboratory duties
• Regular update of the equipment calibration database with current information / status
• Managing calibration related projects to completion
• Support Quality team with investigations, procedure updates and audits
• Create and maintain equipment measurement uncertainty budgets
• Training of personnel in use of calibration and related documented instructions and forms
• Support laboratory equipment procurement and assist development of associated documentation
• Engage in lean and continuous improvements onsite
