Job summary

Caseys Furniture in Cork is seeking a strategic Buying and Online Merchandising lead to grow sales through careful sourcing, selection and negotiation. You will contribute to expanding the online offering with an enticing and engaging assortment.

You will develop Brand Range plans, source new vendors, analyse performance, and set pricing to protect margins, while collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Branch/Store teams to deliver a successful online business.

Qualifications

• Experience in buying and merchandising, preferably in home furnishings.
• Ability to build and manage brand ranges and supplier relationships.
• Analytical skills to evaluate range performance and margin.
• Experience growing online sales and coordinating cross-departmentally.

Responsibilities

• Analyse vendor and range performance to ensure sales and margin requirements are achieved.
• Develop Brand Range plan for all Item Categories.
• Develop reporting to support insight to range performance.
• Develop business cases for proposed purchases.
• Source new product and vendors.

Job description

To grow sales by careful sourcing, selection, negotiation and purchasing of vibrant product that fits within the Caseys range. To develop and grow the online offering and recruit new customers through an enticing and engaging offering. To protect margin and commerciality through a strong suite of KPIs. To support and facilitate cross departmental activity with training and guidance on product. To build and maintain strong relationships with Vendors and ancillary internal Departments to allow smooth workflows.

Duties & Responsibilities

Analyse Vendor and range performance to ensure sales and margin requirements are achieved

• Develop Brand Range plan for all Item Categories
• Develop Reporting to support insight to range performance
• Develop business case proposed purchases
• Analyse performance of range against sales

Source new product and vendors

• Visit trade shows
• Develop new range possibilities

Competitor and market trends

• Preparation of Quarterly reports to assess competitors (instore and online)
• Preparation of Quarterly report on market trends and impact on Caseys range
• Negotiate target margin
• Set retail pricing, including discounted pricing to support the target margin
• Develop new income sources from suppliers
• Agree/set deliver type with supplier
• Develop joint business plans with key suppliers, if relevant
• Negotiate settlements where there are supplier disputes (eg. Disputes for credits)
• Develop and document the buying process and ways of working
• Set out product life cycle and recommend improvements
• Source range suitable for online sales
• Develop range targets for online Store
• Liaise with Sales & Marketing to deliver a successful online business
• Deliver the online sales and margin targets

Selling and Stock Management

• Set and agree Display Order products
• Set stock projections for bulk orders
• Set VM Criteria for Product Vision
• Sanction all bulk order payments to suppliers

Cross Departmental:

• Strong Cross-departmental communication
• Liaise with Procure/Supply Chain where relevant
• Regular visits to Branches and Warehouse
• Staff Training and Customer Service product information
• Partake in Bi Monthly Manager Meeting

Other:

• Any other tasks deemed necessary and relevant to the role as determined by Direct Leader
