Job summary

Central Bus & Coach Limited seeks an experienced Panel Beater to inspect and repair heavy vehicles, including buses and plant machinery. You will realign chassis, replace damaged panels and perform fabrication with welding expertise, ensuring top safety and quality standards.

The role requires hands-on work with diagnostic tools, a strong focus on accurate reporting, and collaboration with workshop colleagues to complete tasks within the 39-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Panel Beater.
• Experience with heavy goods vehicles and buses is preferred.
• Competent in high-quality structural and cosmetic repairs.
• Welder certification is a bonus but not mandatory.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• To assess and repair damage on a variety of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), buses, and plant machinery.
• To realign chassis, remove and replace damaged panels, and carry out fabrication and structural repairs.
• To operate equipment such as heavy-duty jigs, hydraulic presses, and welding tools.
• To conduct cutting, grinding, and MIG/MAG/TIG welding on steel and aluminium components.
• To carry out pre- and post-repair inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• To collaborate with paint technicians and workshop staff to complete jobs efficiently.
• To maintain accurate job cards and work reports.
• To adhere to health and safety standards specific to heavy vehicle repair environments.

Requirements: Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a Panel Beater role
• Experience with commercial trucks and plant vehicles is an advantage
• Candidate must be competent to carry out high-quality structural and cosmetic repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and machinery
• Panel Beater certification is a plus but is not mandatory
• Strong welding and metal fabrication skills
• Proven ability to work on large-scale body structures and heavy vehicle chassis
• Comfortable using diagnostic and measuring tools for large vehicles
• Knowledge of body repair processes for articulated lorries, tippers, buses, and diggers
• Experience with fibreglass and composite materials is a plus
• Certification in welding or heavy vehicle structural repair is a bonus
