Mercury is seeking a BIM Quality Engineer to lead QA/QC of 3D models for semiconductor tool install projects in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. You will verify model integrity, ensure compliance with BEP/LOD and project specs, and collaborate with BIM Detailers and the wider project team to drive quality improvements.

You will log issues, track resolutions, maintain QA dashboards, and contribute to continuous improvement of BIM standards and delivery quality across multi‑discipline activities.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in mechanical, electrical, or piping disciplines with practical trade or engineering experience (e.g. pipefitting, electrical installation).
  • Experience checking 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings against specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, iConstruct and/or CADWorx.
  • Familiarity with BIM360/ACC issue tracking and QA/QC dashboard tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Understanding of clash detection processes and model versus scan validation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and constructability risks.
  • Clear communication skills to provide feedback and drive resolution across design and delivery teams.
  • Semiconductor, pharmaceutical or advanced manufacturing project experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project SOP information, specifications, standards and checking procedures required to confirm deliverable compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Own BIM QA review of 3D modelling for compliance with project specifications, standards and BEP/LOD requirements, while primary cursory checking responsibility for 2D fabrication deliverables remains with the BIM Lead.
  • Check coordinated models and associated deliverables for compliance with piping, ductwork, electrical, instrumentation and support specifications.
  • Verify space management, access and maintainability requirements are respected in the model.
  • Confirm naming conventions, file structure and documentation align with Mercury BIM standards.
  • Support the BIM Lead by identifying QA issues and recommending acceptance or rejection of deliverables ahead of fabrication pack release.
  • Log all fabrication and installation-related issues through the BIM QA Punch Portal, using the correct issue type (BIM, Site or Fab Shop) and project code.
  • Ensure sufficient detail is captured for each issue to enable timely and accurate resolution.
  • Track issues through to resolution, engaging designers and detailers as needed for comment and close-out.
  • Escalate unresolved or recurring issues at the weekly BIM constraints/QA review meeting. Track and trend metric.
  • Participate in model versus scan reviews to confirm accuracy against asbuilt/ existing conditions.
  • Review clash reports produced under the BIM Lead's remit and confirm that reported clashes have been resolved prior to fabrication release.
  • Flag discrepancies between design intent and captured field conditions
  • Maintain and update the BIM QA/QC dashboard and trackers, recording issues by tool, discipline, type and status.
  • Provide weekly QA metrics and trend reporting to the BIM Manager/Lead for inclusion in project and leadership reporting.
  • Identify recurring issue types or problem areas and recommend process improvements to reduce rework.
  • Support lessons-learned reviews and feed findings back into training and SOP updates.

Scope of the Role:

The BIM QA is responsible for the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of 3Dmodels produced for semiconductor tool install projects.
The role operates under thedirection of the BIM Manager/BIM Lead and acts as the discipline QA steward, checking modelling and fabrication outputs against project specifications, standards, and clientrequirements prior to issue, contained in the ‘info pack’ .

The BIM QA works closely with BIM Detailers, Team Leads, and the wider project team toidentify, log, track, and close out quality issues, ensuring that fabrication andinstallation models are accurate, buildable, and compliant before release to site or thefabrication shop. The role is central to Mercury's continuous improvement approach toBIM quality, reducing rework and driving accountability through structured tracking andreporting.


Key Responsibilities of the Role:

Model & Deliverable Quality Checks

  • Act as QA/QC steward for BIM execution.
  • Carry out cursory quality audits and housekeeping checks across live models and deliverables.
  • Support onboarding and training of new BIM team members on QA expectations and checking procedures.

Essential Criteria for the Role:
