Job summary

GxP Recruitment is seeking technicians to support and develop multiple high-speed automated production lines in Galway. The role focuses on PLC-controlled equipment, vision systems, data integrity and security, across a 12-hour shift pattern on a 3/4-day cycle.

You'll collaborate with IT, Applications, and external vendors, provide third-level support, and implement best practices to boost productivity and quality. A hands-on, analytical mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting high-speed automated production lines.
  • Knowledge of robotics, vision systems and debugging.
  • Willingness to work across rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supports the existing Automation infrastructure for uptime and performance.
  • Collaborates with IT, Applications and external resources to support Automation and Information Systems.
  • Provides Final Third Level support on technical issues.
  • Delivers solutions using best practices to improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Installs and deploys systems, software and peripherals; liaises with vendors and purchasing.
  • Ensures system backups, recovery, and connectivity of servers and shared software.
  • Provides regular reports to management and delivers projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrates high technical ability with hands-on problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of working in a team; knowledge of robotics and vision systems.

Job description

This role provides support and ongoing development to a number of high-speed automated production lines and new product introductions, in particular paying attention to PLC controlled equipment, vision systems, revision control systems and manufacturing data integrity and security.

Technicians are required across all shifts.

Shift pattern is 12 hours across a 3-day/4-day pattern (no rotations):

Shift 1: Mon, Tue, Wed, every second Sunday 8 am - 8pm

Shift 2: Sun, Mon, Tue, every second Saturday 8pm - 8am (+15% shift allowance for nights only)

Shift 3: Thurs, Fri, Sat, every second Sunday 8 am - 8pm

Shift 4: Wed, Thurs, Fri, every second Saturday 8pm -8am (+15% shift allowance for nights only)

Detailed Description:

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manages and supports the existing Automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimized downtime.
  • Collaborates with the IT Group, Application Group, and External Technical Resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies.
  • Provides Final Third Level support on all technical issues.
  • Provides solutions, which implement industry best practice to deliver improved productivity, quality and efficiency throughout the organization.
  • Installs and deploys systems, software and peripherals as required, liaising with external vendors and service contractors as appropriate. Sources appropriate equipment and services through appropriate
  • liaison with purchasing department.
  • Provides technical direction for all new infrastructure developments, in agreement with the Engineering Manager. Benchmarks system performance and provides regular reports.
  • Interfaces with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments. Perform system backs ups and recovery.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers and shared software and other applications.
  • Provides regular reports to Management and delivers projects within agreed time-frames and budgets.
  • An ability to demonstrate a high level of technical ability, with hands on approach to solving technical issues
