Position: Automation Project Engineer. Location: Munster, Ireland.

PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions with offices in Ireland, the United States and Puerto Rico, and serving the Life Science, F&B and Utilities industries, is looking for an Automation Project Engineer. This is a site-based role.

Job Description

This role is an Automation Project Engineer working within a multinational life science manufacturing environment in Munster.

Responsibilities of the Role
  • Coordinating projects on automated systems including PLC, SCADA, DCS, Historian and process equipment.
  • Support specification, procurement, implementation, and validation of automated systems, ensuring adherence to GMP procedures on-site for all related tasks
  • Manage and execute automation change controls.
  • Lead discussions with project teams internal and external, provide technical support, and make informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet required quality standards.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors as part of project delivery.
  • Support and development of disaster recovery process and execution of system back-ups at defined intervals.
  • Work closely with the Site’s Global/Local IT teams to ensure continued technical alignment and support for projects and manufacturing systems.
  • Follow project schedules and document trackers to assist in the management and control of project deliverables.
  • Participate in Automation meetings and support relevant program meetings.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on the overall project to ensure clear communication between all parties.
  • Ensure Automation compliance with Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute current Good manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day to day activities and all applicable job functions.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Industrial Automation and Control systems, or equivalent.
Experience/Skills Required
  • 5+ years’ post-qualification experience in a similar role supporting industrial automated networks and systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with an ability to work with various stakeholders of all levels and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organisational skills to map out projects, prioritize workload and keep accurate documentation.
  • Technical competencies in the following areas:
  • Project coordination experience including vendor and subcontractor liaison/management.
  • Experience with automation systems such as PLCs (e.g. Siemens S7, Allen Bradley), SCADA, DCS (e.g. DeltaV, ABB), PI Historian.
  • System integration using Ethernet, ASi, Profibus & other industrial interfaces.
  • Design, implementation, maintenance, and administration of networked systems integrated across ISA 95.
  • Implementation of data harvesting and development of customised reporting using databases and data historian, preferably with experience of Rockwell products.
  • 21CFR Part 11 and Good Automated Manufacturing Practices (GAMP) related to automation and control systems in the Life Sciences industry.
