Job summary

Mitchell McDermott in Dublin is seeking an experienced Associate/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Dublin team, taking full ownership of the management, pricing and collation of Electrical and Mechanical projects and budgets, of various sizes – working directly with clients, contractors and our own directors, who are hands-on from day one.

You will also play a pivotal role in mentoring and training our placement and graduate employees.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in a QS role.
  • Data Centre Project Experience Is Essential.
  • Chartered status is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in Construction Consultancy, Client or Developer environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Full management, pricing and collation of projects and budgets of varying sizes.
  • Ensure compliance with contract obligations and advise the construction team.
  • Identify commercial risks and report to management.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts from award to final account.
  • Forecast turnover and cash flow for projects.
  • Review reporting for accuracy and reliability.
  • Liaise with Employers, Design Team and subcontractors on contractual items.
  • Support and mentor placement and graduate employees.

About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Associate/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Dublin team, working on some of Europe’s most exciting Data Centre projects. You’ll take full ownership of the management, pricing and collation of Electrical and Mechanical projects and budgets, of various sizes – working directly with clients, contractors and our own directors, who are hands‑on from day one. You will also play a pivotal role in the mentoring and training of our placement and graduate employees.

  • Responsible for the full management, pricing and collation of projects and budgets, of various sizes.
  • Ensure compliance with contract obligations and provide advice and monitoring of the same to the construction team.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of the same to management.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations, and final account.
  • Manage and forecast turnover and cash flow of the projects.
  • Review and commercial manage all projects to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
  • Identify, analyse and report on trends within the Business & Projects.
  • Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and/or subcontractors to identify contractually critical items and initiate replies.
  • Ensure the Construction Team is adhering to all Contractual Requirements and provide advice and monitoring of the same.
  • Work both individually and as part of a multi‑functional team.
  • Excellent IT Skills Essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under strict deadlines essential.

  • A relevant third‑level qualification.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a QS role.
  • Data Centre Project Experience Is Essential.
  • Construction‑stage Data Centre experience in Europe, ideally gained within a consultancy.
  • Experience within a Construction Consultancy, Client or Developer environment (other backgrounds will be considered).
  • Pre‑ or post‑contract experience acting as CQS or PQS is an advantage.
  • Chartered status is a strong advantage.
  • A strong client‑facing profile, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Motivated and diligent team player, willing to go the extra mile.
