Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate/Technical Director in Ireland to shape the future of our water environment. You will guide teams, strengthen technical capability, and influence project delivery for clients such as Severn Trent, Scottish Water Horizons, and Welsh Water.

You will lead urban drainage modelling development and provide authoritative input while developing client relationships and contributing to growth. A degree and chartership progress with ICE/IEI/IoW/CIWEM are expected.

Qualifications

  • A relevant engineering degree and chartered status or progress toward ICE/IEI/IoW/CIWEM.
  • Experience in urban drainage and wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM).
  • Ability to review and check outputs before issue.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of urban drainage modelling capability and standards.
  • Support day-to-day management of the technical delivery team.
  • Provide technical input on urban drainage projects with the wastewater team.
  • Apply professional judgement to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Build trusted client relationships and run project meetings.
  • Contribute to business development, proposals, and strategic growth.
  • Represent WSP at industry forums and conferences.
  • Share knowledge to develop the wider water team.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
  • Lead the development of our urban drainage modelling capability, ensuring the team remains ahead of the curve on evolving methods, tools, and standards
  • Support the team lead with the day-to-day management of our technical delivery team
  • Provide authoritative technical input on urban drainage projects, working closely with our wastewater team to support innovative and efficient project delivery
  • Apply independent professional judgement to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation
  • Build strong, trusted client relationships and facilitate internal and external project meetings
  • Contribute to business development, proposals, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Represent WSP in industry forums and conferences
  • Share knowledge widely, contributing to the development of the wider water team
  • A relevant degree and chartered, or significantly progressed on your journey in pursuing qualification with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM
  • Able to demonstrate clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and an ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue
  • A good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and relevant British Standards
  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills
