Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Director Hydrogeologist to play a key role in growing and leading our Ground & Water business within the Earth and Environment division, with a strong focus on business development, client leadership, and team growth alongside technical and project delivery. The role involves spearheading the development and maintenance of UK industry‑standard software ConSim and LandSim.

Responsibilities
  • Drive business growth, strengthen client relationships, and ensure successful delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Lead business development by identifying new opportunities, developing bid strategies, and expanding market presence in contaminated land, remediation, energy transition, decommissioning, and infrastructure.
  • Act as Project Director on key projects, accountable for time, cost, quality, commercial performance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead teams within Newcastle and the wider region, fostering high‑performing collaborative culture and succession planning.
  • Oversee commercial and operational performance, including revenue generation, margin management, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Provide senior technical oversight and maintain high standards of delivery for hydrogeology, contaminated land, and remediation services.
Qualifications
  • Degree (ideally postgraduate) in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
  • Significant experience in hydrogeology, including managing data, developing conceptual models, and interpreting results.
  • Proficiency with software such as ConSim, LandSim, P20, FeFlow, Modflow, and Seep/W.
  • Experience in hydrogeological risk assessment, dewatering, groundwater resource management, pumping tests, yield tests, modelling, borehole prognosis, abstraction, and geothermal.
  • Track record of winning work, building client relationships, delivering complex projects, leading teams, commercial awareness, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
