Job summary

Wexford County Council is seeking an Assistant Planner to join the Planning Department. You will assess planning applications, provide guidance to the public and internal stakeholders, and conduct site visits related to planning cases, enforcement, and derelict sites.

You will contribute to preparing Development Plans and Local Area Plans, analyse spatial trends, and help implement regeneration measures. A Level 8 Planning qualification and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Planning (Level 8 NFQ or equivalent).
• At least two years of satisfactory planning experience.
• High standard of technical training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess and recommend on planning applications per policy and law.
• Conduct pre-application consultations and advise the public and internal staff.
• Undertake site visits related to planning applications and enforcement.
• Prepare reports on enforcement cases, derelict and vacant sites.
• Develop Development Plans and Local Area Plans and other policy reports.
• Analyse spatial and demographic trends to inform policy.
• Develop measures to promote regeneration.
