Job summary

Tirlán Portlaoise Feed Mill is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the Engineering Manager in running the maintenance function across milling equipment. You will help manage risk, environmental and maintenance contractor activities, and contribute to cost control and data reporting.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, familiarity with PLCs and process control, and a proactive, team-oriented approach in a site environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering or technical background with a focus on mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of electrical principles, PLCs and process control.
• Experience in maintenance planning and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing planned and unplanned maintenance work with site Production team.
• Assist in supervising Maintenance Team and assigning daily tasks.
• Ensure proper use of tools, PPE and safe work procedures.
• Follow Workplace safety procedures (LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work Permits).
• Coordinate and control maintenance costs and maintain maintenance logs.
• Assist in CAPEX documentation preparation.
• Participate in energy management and operational improvement projects.
• Prepare reports and analyse data to improve plant operations.

Role Profile

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Maintenance Manager based in Tirlán Portlaoise Feed Mill. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the primary focus of this position is to assist in the management of the maintenance function. The role encompasses a number of functions which include responsibility for Risk, Environmental and Maintenance Contractor management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper use of tools, PPE and safe work procedures.
• Ensure Workplace safety procedures are followed I.e. LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work Permits etc.
• Coordinate and Control of Maintenance Costs, and be discrete in the management of private information.
• Maintain Maintenance Logs and equipment histories via the maintenance System on site.
• Assistance in preparation of CAPEX documentation.
• Participate in Energy Management and operational improvement projects.
• Prepare reports, analyse data and make recommendations for improving plant operations and resolving maintenance related problems.

Requirements

• Engineering or Technical Background – Focus on mechanical engineering (milling / grain plant equipment) with good knowledge of electrical principals, plc’s and process control.
• Competent in Office applications and Processes
• Competent in undertaking installation / repair work
• Interested in updating own knowledge base and acquiring new skills
• Team player & work on own initiative
