This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.

Job Description

This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participant will be encouraged and supported by staff and can avail of continuous learning from colleagues to help with their personal growth and career development.

  • Assist with Cleaning: Maintain a clean and safe environment by cleaning cages, litter boxes, and all other living areas, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Client communication: Keep owners updated on their pet's status, often with photos and messages.
  • Develop skills in Grooming: Wash, dry, brush, and style animal coats according to breed standards or owner instructions, using appropriate tools.
  • Shadow experienced staff in health monitoring: Learn how to observe pets for any signs of illness or injury and acquire knowledge on reporting protocol.
  • Assist with Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of each pet's health, behaviour, and diet.
