Job summary

European Tech Recruit are partnering with a multinational semiconductor company based in Cork to hire an Android Engineer - Java / Kotlin for their Sensors team.

You will design, develop, and test Android applications for sensor data collection and feature demonstrations, and contribute to cross‑platform desktop tools that interact with Android devices in Windows and Linux, supporting workflows such as device control, data validation, visualization, and post‑processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline.
• 2+ years of Android app development experience using Android SDK and Android Studio preferred.
• Strong OO programming skills in Java or Kotlin with production-quality deliverables.
• Experience with C++ and Python for system-level tools and internal/customer use.
• Fluency with Git and GitHub version control.
• Ability to develop customer-facing demos and tests.
• Rapid prototyping for validation and trials.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test Android applications for sensor data collection and feature demonstrations.
• Develop cross-platform desktop tools with GUIs that interact with Android devices (Windows/Linux).

European Tech Recruit are working closely with a multinational semiconductor company, based in Cork, who are looking for a talented Android Engineer - Java / Kotlin to join their Sensors team.

Responsibilities as Android Engineer - Java / Kotlin:

• Designing, developing, and testing Android applications for sensor data collection and feature demonstration.
• Designing, implementing, and testing cross platform desktop tools with user interfaces (Windows and Linux) that interact with Android devices used for sensor data collection and user demonstrations, supporting workflows such as device control, data validation, visualization, and post-processing, using languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, C++, .NET, and C#.
• Developing Java based software components that follow industry standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models.
• Developing software on prototype and reference platforms covering mobile devices, wearables, and smart glasses form factors.
• Collaborating with global, cross functional teams to support the development and commercialization of sensor algorithms and features.
• Contributing to the design and evolution of end-to-end data processing pipelines, and monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing data workflows in production environments.
• Supporting internal data collection campaigns involving employees worldwide, including hands-on participation in field data collection activities and resolving issues related to applications running on employees’ own devices.
• Supporting sensor feature commercialization across various form factors, including algorithm performance validation, customer data analysis, and direct customer triage support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience developing Android applications using the Android SDK, preferably with Android Studio (but not limited to it).
• Strong object-oriented programming skills in Java or Kotlin, with a proven ability to deliver production-quality software.
• Proficiency in developing system-level applications and tools in C++ and Python for internal and customer facing use.
• Fluency with Git and GitHub.
• Ability to develop customer-facing demo and test applications.
• Rapid prototyping to support internal validation, trade show demonstrations, and customer trials.
• Delivering reliable, clear user experiences for non-engineering audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong written and verbal English proficiency.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced global team environment and coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with enterprise deployment and device management concepts, such as Android Enterprise, mobile device management (MDM), and mobile application management (MAM), including tools like Intune.
• Previous experience with React Native.
• Experience developing desktop applications with graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-OS environment, including Linux and Windows.
• Previous experience with Android Wear / Wear OS and Android XR.
