Permanent & Specific Purpose Contracts (Full Time)

Working in the Rotunda:

We are currently looking to hire a Household Supervisor to join our Household Department here in the Rotunda. The successful candidate will be leading a team of dedicated Household professionals completing various Household duties around the Hospital. Based in the city centre and on the grounds of the oldest continuously operating maternity hospital in the world, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across all professional disciplines and become part of the Rotunda family.

This is an operational supervisory post and will encompass supervision of Household Staff throughout the hospital to ensure the highest possible standards of cleanliness and hygiene and compliance with Hospital Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience as a supervisor would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting would be advantageous
  • Have good IT literate skills and good written skills
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to convey information in a professional manner
  • Be open to change and variety with a flexible and organised approach to work.
  • A high degree of integrity and initiative.
  • Be of good character.
  • Be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise household staff and the duties assigned to them on a daily basis
  • Monitor assignments as allocated by Household Services management
  • Liaise and coordinate with Ward Management, regarding any special cleaning requirements
  • Communicate all special cleaning requirements observed or requested to the Household Services Officer and carry a bleep when on duty
  • Undertake weekly and daily audits as requested with reference to department cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Actively contribute and assure compliance with the key areas as identified in the National Quality / Hygiene Service Schemes
  • Train new members of staff and assist in the ongoing assessment of Household staff
  • Uphold and implement the highest standards of Household Services ensuring the highest possible standards of cleanliness and hygiene and compliance with Hospital Health and Safety Policy Procedures.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of machinery, equipment, in area of responsibility. Report, document and take corrective action with defective machinery and equipment, etc.
  • Investigate, record, report all accidents and dangerous occurrences within the Household Services Department, and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • Deputise for the Household Services Manager in their absence
  • Provide support to the Linen Services Department when required
  • Undertake training and development activities consistent with the position
  • Other duties appropriate to the post as assigned by the Household Services Officer or his/her deputies
