Job summary

Redpath is hiring an experienced Underground General Superintendent/Project Manager for the Freeport Indonesia Project in Central Papua. The role involves leading safe operations, planning shift tasks with the General Foreman, and supervising crews under challenging underground conditions.

Flights are provided from your point of hire to site, on a 5/4 roster with 12-hour shifts. Strong leadership and a proven track record in underground mining are essential to deliver targets safely and

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in underground mining.
• Experience with Alimak mining preferred.
• Be highly driven to achieve project targets safely and efficiently.
• Proven history of supervising multiple crews in hazardous environments.
• Ability to analyze complex situations to plan safe methods.
• Ability to promote teamwork across tunneling crews.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work in your area is done safely.
• Plan tasks for the shift with the General Foreman and Superintendent.
• Allocate machinery and tasks to shift employees.
• Direct and supervise workers on your project area.
• Supervise new or inexperienced employees closely.
• Oversee daily line up and safety meetings; update procedures as needed.
• Apply disciplinary or counseling procedures and provide positive feedback.
• Participate in site leadership program; record and report inspections and corrective actions.

We are currently hiring for an experienced Underground General Superintendent/Project Manager join our Freeport Indonesia Project in Central Papua. With flights provided from your point of hire to site, on a 5/4 roster, with 12-hour shifts.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all work in your area is done safely
• Plan tasks for the shift in conjunction with the General Foreman and Superintendent
• Allocate machinery, work areas and tasks to shift employees
• Direction and supervision of workers employed in your project area
• Ensure new or inexperienced employees are closely supervised
• Oversee the daily line up and safety meeting with the crew and upgrading of procedures that will optimize company safety and quality of work
• Apply disciplinary / counseling procedures and conversely give positive feedback where needed
• Actively participate and comply with the site leadership program, record and report the results of the inspections and implement corrective actions as required to minimize risks/hazards
• Attend pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and safety meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in underground mining with an in-depth understanding
• Experience with Alimak mining preferred
• Be highly driven to achieve project targets, safely and efficiently, and training of work forces within an underground environment
• Proven history of successfully supervising and safely guiding multiple crews through hazardous work projects.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate multifaceted situations to determine the safe and productive methods for completion of the work.
• Ability to promote an attitude of teamwork and cooperation between the various components of the tunneling workforce.
• Strong leadership skills earning the respect of management and subordinates.
