Job description

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business. In 2025, our planned production is 5,703 kg of Gold and 10,010 tonnes of copper.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join us during the growth phase of our business and champion diversity through all stages of our recruitment.

Reporting to the Senior Underground Geologist, the Underground Geologist is responsible for the management and execution of daily underground grade control activities through the collection and validation of geological data to supply reliable technical information to the mine planning teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvements in geological processes.
  • Collect, store, and validate underground geological data to ensure integrity and reliability, maintaining QA/QC processes through timely and high-quality core logging and sampling.
  • Assist in supervising drilling contractors and conduct weekly drill rig inspections to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Perform geological mapping of operating development areas and additional areas as directed by the Senior Underground Geologist, assisting in geological and mineralization domain interpretation for resource and grade control modelling.
  • Manage, monitor, and reconcile underground material movements daily to ensure accurate reporting, assisting in monthly reconciliation and reporting.
  • Communicate and collaborate with mining stakeholders to optimize ore recovery and maintain accurate grade control, working closely with the Surface Grade Control team on mill feed strategies to achieve production targets.
  • Generate and deliver geological reports and documentation on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Assist in designing, scheduling, and implementing underground resource and grade control drilling programs in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to underground geology technicians to ensure efficient execution of tasks.
  • Support the Senior Underground Geologist in long-term improvement projects.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in geology or geoscience.
  • Light Vehicle License (Class B).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in mining, with exposure to underground mining highly regarded.
  • Multiple mine site experience across a variety of commodities and operational environments highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in geological software packages, including but not limited to Vulcan, Leapfrog.
  • Knowledge of mining operations and production processes.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Fundamentals of Safety and Risk.
