Job summary

Job description

Chandra Asri Group, through its subsidiary PT Chandra Asri Sentral Solusi (CASS), has established a Shared Service Center (SSC) to enhance operational efficiency and support the business growth of its subsidiaries. From finance and HR to procurement, customer operations, and IT, our SSC is the backbone that keeps businesses running smoothly. One of our key areas of support is for Aster Chemicals & Energy (ACE), a leading chemical and energy solutions provider in Singapore and the Asia Pacific. ACE combines the legacy of Singapore’s first oil refinery with cutting-edge petrochemical operations, jointly owned by Chandra Asri Group and Glencore, one of the world’s largest natural resource companies.

PURPOSE

The Tax & Governance analyst is responsible for ensuring ACE’s adherence to local and international tax regulations, statutory compliance, and internal control frameworks. This role primarily supports tax compliance, reporting, and risk management across both direct and indirect taxes to ACE and its related group of companies —including corporate income tax, withholding tax, GST, property tax, and carbon tax.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Preparation of filing of direct and indirect tax returns, including corporate income tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, property tax and other statutory filings, in accordance with local and international tax regulations and on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and related disclosures for financial reporting purposes.
  • Support tax planning and advisory activities, including transfer pricing and cross-border transactions.
  • Support accurate and timely scheduling, and remittance of tax payments, including estimated taxes and final settlements.
  • Maintain and update tax documentation and compliance records to support tax positions and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Support onshore tax team on tax audits and inquiries by preparing necessary documentation.
  • Participate in finance transformation initiatives, including ERP system enhancements (e.g., SAP S4 HANA).
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls across Aster entities.
  • Execute governance-related actions (e.g., maintain Manual of Authorities).
DIMENSIONS

ACE consists of Bukom Refinery, Bukom Ethylene Cracker Complex, Jurong Island Chemicals assets and commercial and commercial teams, total about 1500FTEs. Annual turnover is around US$10-15bln.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in tax and compliance roles, preferably in energy, chemicals, or trading industries.
  • Hands‑on experience with various aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting (Corporate tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing, GST, etc.).
  • Experience with governance and internal controls.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrates integrity, teamwork, and a proactive mindset.
  • Strong proficiency in Business English (written and oral).
