Job summary

Ajaib Group is seeking a Staff/Principal Frontend Engineer to lead high-performance front-end development for cross-platform desktop applications (Tauri/Electron) and web platforms. You will set architectural direction, drive OS-level optimizations, and mentor senior engineers across the organization.

You will collaborate with backend teams to implement end-to-end testing and performance improvements, while upholding industry-best practices in frontend engineering and build pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive frontend and desktop app development experience with automation and state management.
• Production-grade desktop apps using Tauri or Electron.
• Experience across macOS and Windows IPC and OS-specific behaviors.
• Strong automated testing experience for JS/TS and native apps.
• Nice-to-haves include Rust, CI/CD pipelines, and modern web frameworks.

Role Overview

As a Staff / Principal Frontend Engineer at Ajaib, you represent the highest level of technical authority for front-end development, specializing in high-performance cross-platform desktop applications (Tauri/Electron) and web platforms. You will lead cutting-edge architectural designs, drive operating system-level optimizations, establish testing standards, and mentor senior engineering talent across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of cutting-edge front-end and cross-platform desktop architectures that elevate user engagement and set new industry standards.
• Drive technical decisions and best practices for desktop application architecture, memory performance, and runtime reliability.
• Mentor and support junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and backend engineers to create and implement effective end-to-end testing, integration, and performance solutions.
• Advocate for and implement industry best practices in front-end development, contributing to Ajaib's reputation as a leader in quality engineering.
• Continuously assess and optimize front-end/desktop build processes, application packaging, distribution channels, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Utilize AI tools critically with a "human-in-the-loop" framework to accelerate delivery without compromising application security or code architecture.

• Education: Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Proven, extensive experience in advanced front-end and desktop application development, with a strong focus on automation, testing, and complex state management.
• Desktop Frameworks: Deep hands-on experience building production-grade desktop applications using Tauri, Electron, or similar native container frameworks.
• OS-Level Mastery: Sound understanding of desktop application concepts, IPC (Inter-Process Communication), security boundaries, and OS-specific behaviors, particularly across macOS and Windows.
• Automated Testing: Solid experience with automated testing frameworks for JavaScript/TypeScript and native desktop applications (unit, integration, and E2E testing).
• Nice-to-Haves: Working knowledge of Rust (especially for Tauri backends), CI/CD distribution pipelines, application binary packaging, and modern web frameworks (React, Next.js).
