With a mission to modernize and democratize payments for businesses, we focus on making transactions cheaper, faster, and more efficient. With over 50 million transactions processed monthly, we serve clients across diverse industries, including consumer goods, retail, automotive, and financial services.

As a Staff Engineer, you'll shape Durianpay’s technical architecture and drive strategic platform evolution. You’ll own key systems and lead initiatives across performance, security, and reliability. In this role, you'll drive cross-team projects, mentor senior engineers, and translate business goals into scalable, observable systems that perform at scale.

Key Responsibilities

•Define and enforce architecture and infra standards for scale, reliability, and cost-efficiency

•Guide teams on clean code, testing, design patterns, and observability

•Build and manage infrastructure: CI/CD, Kubernetes, and IaC (Terraform, Helm), with cost and capacity planning

•Own and operate the core banking microservice that powers payments, routing, and transaction logic

•Lead incident response lifecycle: SLIs/SLOs, post-mortems, monitoring, and MTTR reduction

•Prototype new frameworks and anticipate future risks with data-driven analysis

•Oversee platform migrations, refactors, or tech adoption across quarters

•Drive engineering productivity through process and tooling improvements

•Align technical roadmap with leadership in Product, Ops, and InfoSec

Requirements

•7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant hands-on and leadership experience in backend systems, ideally in payment, fintech or other high-volume services.

•Expert in one or more languages (Go, Node.js, Java, Python) and RESTful API design.

•Strong proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), Docker/Kubernetes, and

Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Helm).

•Proven hands-on experience in DevOps and SRE practices, including:

oDesigning and operating end-to-end CI/CD pipelines (i.e., Jenkins, Argo CD, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and scripting (i.e., Python, Go, Bash).

oManaging Kubernetes clusters at scale i.e., provisioning, upgrades, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.

oImplementing Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) and maintaining Helm charts.

oBuilding and operating monitoring and observability systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).

oLeading on-call rotations, conducting blameless post-mortems, and driving MTTR reduction.

oApplying networking and security best practices (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) and ensuring compliance with frameworks such as PCI-DSS

•Deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka).

•Proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex distributed-system issues through data-informed solutions.

•Demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy and drive alignment across engineering and business stakeholders.

•Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

•Passion for mentoring others, continuous learning, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
