Job summary

Ajaib Group in Jakarta, Indonesia is seeking a Sr. SDET II to drive quality engineering across our rapidly scaling microservices platform. You will shape test strategy, build automation frameworks, and mentor SDETs to deliver zero-defect releases at scale.

This senior individual contributor role focuses on test architecture, advanced automation, and quality culture, without full-time people management duties, collaborating with DevOps and engineering leads to embed quality throughout CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in QA/SDET/software engineering, with at least 2+ years designing frameworks and leading quality initiatives.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Expertise in modern automation tools: WebdriverIO, Cypress, Appium, Selenium, Playwright, REST Assured.
• Experience testing distributed systems / microservices, incl API contract testing and service mocking.
• Understanding of performance, load, and security testing (JMeter, Gatling, k6, OWASP).
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Exceptional debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communicator with experience influencing engineers and stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Experience with AI-assisted automation tools or integrating AI to optimize test coverage and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own test strategy and automation architecture for multiple squads spanning backend, frontend, and mobile.
• Design, build, and scale test automation frameworks for API, UI, contract, integration, and performance testing.
• Partner with engineering leads to embed testability and quality gates into designs and CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor SDET engineers, review test designs, and promote best practices.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives on non-functional testing: performance, reliability, security, chaos engineering.
• Collaborate with DevOps to optimize test pipelines for speed, scalability, reliability.
• Diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analysis, drive systemic fixes.
• Introduce tools, test data solutions, mocks, and dashboards to improve productivity and release confidence.

As the technical leader of our QA/SDET function, you’ll shape test strategy, build cutting-edge automation frameworks, and mentor SDETs to deliver zero-defect releases at scale.

This is a senior individual contributor role with technical leadership responsibilities - ideal for someone passionate about test architecture, advanced automation, and quality culture, without full-time people management duties.

What You’ll Do

• Own test strategy and automation architecture for multiple squads or product areas spanning backend, frontend, and mobile.
• Design, build, and scale test automation frameworks for API, UI, contract, integration, and performance testing.
• Partner with engineering leads and architects to embed testability and quality gates into designs and CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor and upskill SDET engineers, review their test designs, and drive best practices across squads.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives on non-functional testing — performance, reliability, security, and chaos engineering.
