Overview

The Senior Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for overseeing Engineering Management Systems and long-term strategic mine plans across all Merdeka Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring mine planning activities support safe and efficient operations.
  • Develop and deliver medium- to long-term mine plans, including Life of Mine strategies, pit and waste dump designs, and mine schedules.
  • Conduct mine optimization studies and ensure planning outcomes are aligned with technical and business objectives.
  • Apply and maintain the Mine Engineering Management System to support strategic planning governance and compliance.
  • Prepare mine planning inputs for budgets, forecasts, and operational pit strategies.
  • Collaborate with technical and site operations teams to ensure plans are practical, aligned to site capabilities, and effectively transitioned to execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mining or a related discipline.
  • Around five (5) years of mine planning experience.
  • Experience in medium- to long-term mine planning, including Life of Mine planning, pit optimization, and scheduling.
  • Proficient in mine planning software such as Surpac, MineSched, Whittle, and related tools.
