Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
• Experience in nickel mining (nickel laterite) is essential.
• 5+ years in mineral exploration with nickel deposits, incl. limonite/saprolite/bedrock; minimum 2 years in senior role.
• Experience with exploration programme design, execution, and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct geological exploration programmes, including field mapping and sampling; evaluate mineral prospects in nickel mining areas.
• Perform core/rock logging, sampling, and geological interpretation.
• Analyze and interpret geological data to develop and implement exploration strategies aligned with company objectives.
• Manage and interpret geological datasets, including drilling programmes, geochemical analysis, and geophysical surveys to support exploration, mine planning and investment decisions.
• Conduct resource estimation and mineral reserve calculations following Indonesian reporting standards.
• Coordinate with Mining, Exploration, Production, and Smelter teams on ore quality and characteristics.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports and technical documentation for management and regulators.
• Mentor junior geologists and staff; foster professional development.
• Translate geological insights into practical mining and processing solutions with other teams.
• Assess geological risks and provide mitigation recommendations; ensure safety and efficiency.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements in Indonesia.

About the role

PT. Excellen Silo Leaching is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Geologist to join our exploration and geoscience team based in Morowali, Central Sulawesi. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in advancing our mineral exploration initiatives and maximising the geological potential of our operations in this rich mining region. As Senior Geologist, you will provide technical leadership and expert geological guidance that directly impacts the success of our exploration programmes, resource estimation, and overall business strategy. This role offers the opportunity to work on significant mineral deposits whilst contributing to the sustainable development of our mining operations in one of Indonesia's most prospective geological areas.

Key responsibilities

Lead and direct geological exploration programmes, including field mapping, sampling programmes, and data interpretation to identify and evaluate mineral prospects in nickel mining areas

Perform core/rock logging, sampling, and geological interpretation.

Analyze and interpret geological data to Develop and implement exploration strategies aligned with company objectives, utilising advanced geological techniques and industry best practices

Manage and interpret geological datasets, including drilling programmes, geochemical analysis, and geophysical surveys to support exploration, mine planning, and production, resource definition and investment decisions,

Conduct resource estimation and mineral reserve calculations, ensuring compliance with INDONESIAN reporting standards.

Coordinate with Mining, Exploration, Production, and Smelter teams regarding ore quality and characteristics.

Prepare comprehensive geological reports, cross-sections, and technical documentation for management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities

Supervise and mentor junior geologists and technical staff, fostering a culture of professional development and technical excellence

Collaborate with mining engineering, processing, and operational teams to ensure geological insights are effectively translated into practical mining and processing solutions

Assess geological risks and provide recommendations for mitigation, ensuring safe and efficient mining practices

Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, technological advances in exploration geoscience, and regulatory requirements within Indonesia's mining sector

Support feasibility studies and investment evaluations by providing expert geological input and technical assessments

Perform other geological-related tasks as required

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience in nickel mining (nickel laterite) is required.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mineral exploration with nickel laterite deposits, including limonite, saprolite, and bedrock zones. and geoscience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role

Extensive experience with exploration programme design, execution, and geological data interpretation in metalliferous mining environments

Experience or strong understanding of smelter/ore processing and nickel raw material characteristics.

Experience and Strong expertise in resource estimation methodologies .

Proficiency in geological and mining software applications, including 3D modelling software, GIS systems, and database management tools

Demonstrated expertise in field geology, structural interpretation, and mineral deposit typing

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to synthesise complex geological information into actionable recommendations

Good understanding of geological mapping, drilling, sampling, assay, grade control, and geological interpretation.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with proven ability to manage teams, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and influence decision-making at senior levels

Fluency in English is essential; Mandarin language skills are beneficial

Willing to work on-site
