About the role

YPK Buah Hati is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Counselor to join our team in Surabaya, East Java. As a full‑time School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of our students. Your work will be fundamental in fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that empowers our students to reach their full potential.

What you'll be doing

• Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students, addressing a range of personal, social, and academic concerns
• Develop and implement comprehensive guidance programmes that promote students' well‑being, self‑awareness, and problem‑solving skills
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school administrators to identify and address students' needs, and to create tailored support plans
• Manage referrals to external support services and coordinate with relevant professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student care
• Contribute to the creation and delivery of workshops and training sessions for staff and parents on topics such as mental health, educational psychology, and child development
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records, and prepare reports as required
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest developments in the field of student services and school counselling

What we're looking for

• Master's degree in Counselling, Educational Psychology, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a School Counselor or in a similar student support role
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
• Excellent problem‑solving, critical thinking, and decision‑making abilities
• Thorough understanding of child and adolescent development, and the ability to tailor support accordingly
• Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in student services and school counselling
• Proficiency in Indonesian and English, both written and spoken
